HARTSHORNE, Anne (nee Yaworsky)
April 22, 1921 - July 4, 2010
Anne passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on July 4, 2010. She was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Eva Yaworsky, her brothers Harry and John and her loving husband Harry of 54 years. She is survived by her sons Robert (Kirsten) and Wayne (Linda) and her sisters and brother Mary, Olga, Kay, Stevie, Pearl, Polly, Tillie, Mike (Velma), Alice and her many grandchildren. Anne was born in Smokey Lake, Alberta, the eldest of 12 children from parents who had emigrated from the Ukraine. Times were very hard for their family, particularly when their mother died at an early age and their father worked away from their farm. She left to work at Metropolitan Hospital in Windsor, Ontario and Colonel Belcher Hospital in Calgary as a food preparation worker and helped support the family. She later moved to Vancouver and met her future husband Harry. She raised her two sons but also provided a home for her father, sisters and nephews when needed. All the family get-together's were celebrated at Anne and Harry's house and there was always room for neighbors and friends. Anne and Harry started a furniture and appliance business at 11th and Main Street in Vancouver, Harrow Sales which prospered for 35 years through the family's hard work and the help of many employees over the years. Her dogs would play in the window and were enjoyed by the people passing by who would often stop in to visit. Anne will be always be remembered for her altruistic spirit, devotion and self sacrifice for her family. She was able to accomplish a great deal through her hard work and careful investment, but was never able to enjoy an easier life which she certainly deserved. Her memory will be treasured by her family and we will all miss her each and every day. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
