Hugo H. Hartmann, 86, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born August 29, 1923 in Guy, Texas to Robert and Lydia Hartmann. He served in the U. S. Army during World II in China, India, and Burma. He was employed at Dow Chemical Company for 37 years. Hugo was a member of the Lake Jackson Church of Christ. He served with the church benevolence program for 11 years and the Senior Care Ministry. Hugo enjoyed sports, gardening, fishing and playing dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lydia, infant son Neal, daughter, Karen Hartmann, sister Amanda Kettler and brother-in-law Nelson Kettler.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Hartmann of Lake Jackson, son Norman Hartmann of Lake Jackson, daughter Darla Hartmann of Houston, sister Martha Loesch and husband Art of Rosenberg, several nephews and nieces.
Pall bearers will be Charles Garrett, Frank Hickl, Joe Hairston, Robin Lee, Rodger Thompson, Tom Wenzel, Waiford English, Joe Talbot.
Honorary pall bearers will be Bob Dyke, Nino Herrera, Kenneth Kettler, Wilson Kettler, Armin Loesch, T. J. Foster, D. R. Lightfoot, and Barry Stephens.
The family requests donations to the American Heart Association, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, or the Arms of Hope Children's Homes.
The family will receive friends 2:30 pm until 5:30 pm Sunday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday at the Lake Jackson Church of Christ with Allen Ritchie officiating and Hoss Ridgeway assisting.
