Gene was the fifth child and second son of Emil and Erna Oehler Hartmann. Born 05 Sep 1925 in Gillespie County, he grew up in the area with nine brothers and sisters. He married Lottie Lucille Stehling, with whom he has two sons: Eugene, Jr. and Richard Paul.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; by his sisters Dorothy and Carol; and by his brother Johnnie.
He is survived by his wife; by his sons and their spouses; his brothers Paul and Emil; his sisters Anita, Betty, Mary Alice and Irene; by grandchildren and great-grandchildren and by many others who loved him dearly for the kindly and loving man he was.
He will be missed.
