Lt. Col. Carl Wayne Hartman, of Goose Creek, passed away September 18, 2011. He was 89.

Born in Sedalia, MD he was the son of Tolbert and Nina Hartman.

Mr. Hartman served our country proudly in the United States Army, where he retired as a Lt. Colonel. He served during WWII in the Philippines and Europe under George Patton.

After retirement, he worked as a contractor in Huntsville, AL.

An Honorary Member of the French Foreign Legion, Mr. Hartman was a member of the American Legion Post 166 and life member of the VFW Post 10256, and lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America. He also belonged to the Society of Logistic Engineers and was a member of the Kiwani's Club of Huntsville, AL, a Mason and Sojerner. Mr. Hartman was a member of the Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek.

Surviving Mr. Hartman are his two daughters: Louise Dixon and husband Tony of Goose Creek, and Carlene Conley of Independence, KY; one sister: Maxine Humrich of IN; five grandchildren: Ann Gorman and husband Mike, Virginia Gotz and husband Robin, Paige Conley, Derrick Gonzalez, and Laura Sessions; seven great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, Mr. Hartman was preceded in death by his wife, Ann West Hartman.

Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
