Daughter of the late Herschel Peter and Opal Jane Fountain Brady, she was a 1956 graduate of Lawton High School. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1961, with an elementary education degree. She married Gary Hartling in Enid, OK, on June 6, 1981. She taught at Taft Elementary School for 20 years before retiring in 1995. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Education Association. She was survived by her husband; daughter, Andrea Lea Curry; a sister, Courtney Lea Cooper; and an an extended family of relatives.
