Darlene L. Bloodgood, 81 of Burlington passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016. She was born June 14, 1934 in Huron, SD to Norval and Nell (Ingram) Hart.

Raised and educated in Huron, she married Ralph Bloodgood on November 12, 1950. In 1954 they moved to Skagit Valley. Darlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon where she served as a wedding consultant for many years, as well as Sunday School Superintendent, Education Committee member, and was also active with the United Methodist Women's Group.

Darlene was a wife, mother and homemaker for most of her adult life. Later in life she worked for Melody's Flowers and More in Burlington.

Her hobbies and interests included traveling around the U.S. including annual trips to South Dakota where she enjoyed visiting family and friends. She also enjoyed watching her grandson and great grandchildren race at Deming Speedway as well as their participation in other sports.

She was the adopted parent for the Skagit Valley College Girls Basketball team and she would be at as many games as she could for moral support for those players who did not have family close by.

Darlene is survived by her son, Craig (and wife, Debbie) Bloodgood of Burlington; her daughter, Darnell (and husband, Bill) Burress of Sedro-Woolley; her foster son, Bill (and spouse, Norman) Donaldson of Davis, CA; numerous grandchildren including, Jennifer & William Ruhland of Burlington, Jason & Brandy Bloodgood of Burlington, Danielle Lopez (Kenny) of Sedro-Woolley, Lance Lopez (Elisa) of Hamilton, William Burress (Tassonee) of Ellensburg, Josh Burress (Angel) of Sedro-Woolley; great grandchildren, Haylee and Hayden Bloodgood of Burlington, Annabel & Marlee Burress of Sedro-Woolley, Perapat Burress of Ellensburg, Gavin, Nathan & Dorien of Hamilton. She is also survived by sister in law, Lois (and husband, Rance) Perleberg of Huron, SD, sister in law, Wanda Hart of Mount Vernon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Norval & Nell Hart; her husband, Ralph; her sister, Betty Castle; her brothers, Robert and Clifford Hart; and sisters in law, Fern Moser, Arlette Lundberg, Phyllis Zell and Norma Engelhart.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10:00 am a the Burlington Green Hills Memorial Garden and a memorial service will follow at 12:00 Noon at the First United Methodist Church, Mount Vernon.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1607 E Division St, Mount Vernon, WA 98273; or to Hospice of the Northwest, 227 Freeway Dr, Suite A, Mount Vernon, WA 98273; or to a favorite charity .
