Death: Jul. 6, 2006

Andrew J. Hart, Jr., known as Jack, of Uhland, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2006, in his home with his daughters and granddaughter by his side. He was born in Parker, Johnson County, Texas, on September 23, 1918, to Andrew Jackson Hart and Josephine Stevens Hart. His parents' families were early settlers who came to Texas to farm and raise cattle.

After serving in both the European and Pacific theaters in World War II, Jack returned home where he met and soon married Jeannie Nalley on January 11, 1947, in Cleburne, Texas. He was recalled into the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and retired with over 22 years of service in 1967. He returned to his family homeplace in Covington, Texas, to raise cattle and in 1990 he moved his cattle operation to Uhland to be closer to his daughters.

After the death of Jeannie on February 10, 1967, Jack devoted himself to the care of their children. He is survived by his children and their families: Michael J. Hart of Godley, Texas, Shelly Hart Kaufman of Austin, and Nicole Hart of Uhland.

Graveside military services were held Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, with Chaplain Leslie B. McClain officiating.

Funeral arrangements were under the care and guidance of McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E. Pecan St., Lockhart, TX, (512) 398-4791. [Based on an obituary published in the Austin American-Statesman on 7/9/2006.]
