Death of Mrs. Chamberlin

The death of Mrs. Charity Hart Chamberlin at her home in this village Wednesday night takes from the community one of Livonia's best-known and best-loved residents. She was the oldest daughter of John and Lurana Chapin Hart, born in the town of Conesus Nov. 20, 1831 and was the oldest of a family of five girls and three boys. One brother. J. Merlon Hart, has his home in Ohio. Mrs. Chamberlin always lived in the towns of Conesus and Livonia. She married Lewis J. Chamberlin Sept. 10, 1851, and lived on the Chamberlin homestead until 1906, when she came to this village. Mr. Chamberlin died on the 9th of June 1905. There were five children, Mrs. Ella C. Sanford of Westfield, Mass., who died Dec, 8, 1902, Lewis H. of South Livonia, Major-General John L. Chamberlin, of the regular army, Miss Edith, who lived with her mother and Guy N. of Swampscott, Mass. There are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She had been a member of the South Livonia Baptist church since early life and was at the time of her death the oldest member. The funeral services will be at the house this afternoon at 3 o'clock.

Every one who knew Mrs. Chamberlin has only the pleasantest recollections of her. She was devoted to her family, but her love for her children could not exceed their love for her.
