SUCCUMBS TO WOUNDS
Pvt. Clyde Harshbarger, 29-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Harshbarger, of Hollins, died of wounds received in action in Italy on March 2, 1944, his parents were notified yesterday. Harshbarger has been stationed with the infantry overseas for the past several months, having been in service, since December 23, 1942. He received his training at Fort Benning, Ga., and Camp Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He was a graduate of Salem high school, and before entering, service, was employed by the Roanoke Mills, Inc. Harshbarger also served as a deacon in the Enon Baptist Church, Hollins. A brother, N. B. Harshbarger, and sister, Mrs. R. W. Wilson, live in Roanoke.
