She taught at Guion Creek Middle School, Perry Meridian High School, Ball State University and Noblesville Jr. High School. She was also on the faculty at Indiana University Medical Center. She received her B.S. and M.A. from Ball State University. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Sports Car Club of America and Alpha Omicron Pi. She was the widow of Dale R. Baker. She is survived by her children; Cindy Hylton, Roger Baker, Dean (Sarah) Baker and Sandy (Kurt) Olandt, grandchildren; Aeron Hylton, Danielle and Nicolas Baker and Jakob and Aubrey Olandt and friend Joe Raidt.
