Evelyn Harrison Barfield, 82, of Petersburg, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at the Riverview on the Appomattox. She was born April 9, 1931, in Ettrick to the late Emmett and Virginia Ray Kitchen Harrison and was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Gerald Harrison and Barbara McDaniel.
Mrs. Barfield was a long-time member of Ettrick Baptist Church. She was the long-time owner of B&E Depression Glass Shop in Old Town Petersburg, and the co-proprietor of Prince George Plumbing & Cabinet Division along with her husband.
Mrs. Barfield is survived by: her husband, Ronald B. Barfield Sr.; daughters, Gayle Barfield Pruett and husband Phillip P. of Prince George, Sheila Ray Peckinpaugh and husband, Steve Bowman of Chatham; son, Ronald B. Barfield Jr. and wife, Tracy; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Harrison and wife Bonnie; sister-in-law, Jean Harrison; and numerous nieces; and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday Jan. 2, 2013, in the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
