Obituary of Grover Matt Harrison
(December 16, 1927 ~ May 5, 1999)
Gulfport, MS ~ Grover Matt Harrison, 72, of Gulfport, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, in Biloxi.
Mr. Harrison was a native of Suqulena, MS, and a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. He attended school in Suqulena and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was the self-employed owner of Shipley's Donuts for many years. He was a member of the DAV and VFW and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Harrison.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Hugh Stennis and Debra Harrison of Mantachie, MS; a daughter and son-in-law, Belinda Harrison and Andrew Villarreal of Decatur, AL; a brother, Charlie Harrison of Meridian, MS; two sisters, Bernice McClellan of Biloxi and Bea Pharr Hall of Vicksburg, MS; an aunt, Virgie Mommsem of Miami Springs, FL; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, May 7, 1999, at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Coalville Cemetery in Woolmarket.
