Willard Harrison, 91, of Louisville, IL died at 9:28 AM Thursday, January 27, 2011 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

He was born September 1, 1919 in Sailor Springs, IL to William S. & Mary (Patridge) Harrison. He married Kathryn Elizabeth Stanford on June 30, 1940 in Clay City, IL.

He was a building contractor, a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of Louisville United Methodist Church, Clay City American Legion, and was a member & past master of Clay City Masonic Lodge.

Willard use to enjoy going fishing, deer hunting, camping, mushroom hunting, gardening, going trout fishing in Missouri, and spending winters in Texas. He loved his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Kathryn Harrison; three sons: Terry Harrison, Dr. Richard Harrison, and Dr. William Harrison; 1asister: Ellarea Moseley; a brother: Carmen Harrison; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Kenny & Lowell Harrison), and three sisters (Mabel Loughton, Loreana Hunley, and an infant sister).

Funeral services were held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Thompson and Pastor Mark Nowakowski officiating.

Burial will be in Orchard Hill Cemetery with military honors.


ACTIVITY DURING WWII
ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS AN APPRENTICE SEAMAN ON JUNE 13, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. AFTER TWO MONTHS OF BASIC TRAINING AT NAVAL TRAINING STATION GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNED TO PRE-EMBARKATION BARRACKS, TREASURE ISLAND, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, WHERE HE SERVED IN THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF THE STATION. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN FIRST CLASS ON FEBRUARY 19, 1946 AT NAVAL SEPARATION CENTER, SHOEMAKER, CALIFORNIA.
