Clara (Grandmother) Cannon, 91, pioneer resident of the Entiat valley, died at her son's home, O.E. Cannon, Wednesday evening after a 2 months' illness. Clara Harris was born Jan. 14, 1856, at Clarksville, Mo. She was married to W.F. Cannon June 2, 1872, and two years later they moved to Nebraska. In 1888 they moved to the Entiat valley and homesteaded. Mr. Cannon operated an orchard and served as minister of the Christian church. He died in 1928 and since then Mrs. Cannon has lived with her son. She celebrated every birthday since her 75th with nearly all children, grandchildren and families present. Although she had been on crutches for 32 years, she had taken care of her flower garden and house. She is survived by three sons, Orville and Norm Cannon, of Entiat, Tom Cannon of Reedsport, Ore.; four daughters, Mrs. Aletha Goodman of Seattle, Mrs. Bessie Auvil of Orondo, and Mrs. Alice Olsen and Mrs. Bernice Small, of Entiat; a brother, Will Harris of Wenatchee; two sisters, Mrs. S.T. Leland of Wheatland, Wyo., and Mrs. Mollie Miller of Pasadena, Calif., and 16 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Entiat Valley Christian church at 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Gordon Bennett officiating. Margaret and Catherine Hastie will sing, accompanied by Mrs. O.P. Hastie. Pallbearers willl be Robert Small, Al Asher, Robert Hanan, Randolph Cannon, Charles Morical and Grady Auvil, and burial will be in the Entiat cemetery.
