Mary Kate Rawls
(March 6, 1925 - January 18, 2011)

Mrs. Mary Kate Rawls, 85, of Gantt, died Tuesday January 18, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Rawls was born March 6, 1925 in Northport, AL to JC and Beulah Harris; they later moved to Covington County where she married Willard Rawls in 1942. She worked at the Alatex until her retirement. During her retirement years, she taught art at the Senior Center and in her home until her death. She was recognized as one of the most accomplished artist in Covington County.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday January 21st at the Gantt Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Able Cemetery with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Rawls of Decatur, AL, Jess and Kay Rawls of Birmingham, her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Bob Mock of Madison, MS, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Kathleen Harris of Andalusia.

Honorary pallbearers will be students from Mrs. Rawls art classes.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday at Foreman Funeral Home and 30 minutes prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gantt Baptist Church.
