She was born July 27, 1929, in Bethleham, W.Va., the daughter of Olaf and Ila Ryan Hartzel. A resident of St. John since 1971, she was a records clerk at Hearthstone Nursing Home, St. John.
She belonged to Church of Christ, BPW, Rebekahs, and the American Legion Post in Cameron, W.Va. She was a veteran of the Women's Army Corp.
On May 17, 1947, she married Joseph A. Harris Jr. in Bridgeport, Ohio.
Survivors include: a son, Terry, Larned; a daughter, Renny Russell, Rohnert Park, Calif.; a sister, Delores Vandevander, Cameron, W. Va.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, Helen Barone, Ida Hartzel, and Priscilla Nelson, and a granddaughter.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with Pastor Carl Feril presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with a closed casket. Burial in Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
