She married Charles Harris in 1946. Following his military career, they were fortunate enough to live in various military bases throughout the United States and Guam.
Elda was full of life and just plain loved people. She loved to entertain. She did estate sales for many years. Elda loved her flowers and gardening. She was well known for her dahlias. She loved flower arranging and doing the church flowers when she could. She and her husband of 63 years loved traveling and visiting many countries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and one brother, Walter Hershey.
Survivors include her daughter Charlene Harris Pettingell; two step-granddaughters, Lisa Pettingell -Stark and Debbie Pettingell; her long time caregiver and friend, Lora Hall and of course," Buster".
A Memorial Service will be held at Helvetia Community Church Friday, October 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM. Reception to follow. There will be a private burial.
