Nan Harris Bishop, age 92, of Lower Creek Drive, Lenoir, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Lenoir. She was born October 26, 1920, in War, West Virginia to the late William Ace and Mattie Taylor Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Bishop; three brothers, Edgar Harris, Randolph Harris and Paul Harris, and two sisters, Edna Maness and Edith Lydon.

Mrs. Bishop was employed by Blackwelder Hospital for many years, and also worked in Washington DC with the Army Map Service. She retired from the Family Stamp Store and was a member of Tabernacle Advent Christian Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Lower Creek Homemakers Demonstration Club and a WHMV at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Ty Bishop and wife Eliza of Lenoir; one brother, Joe Harris of Valdese; one sister, Mrs. Betty Clark of Lenoir; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Frank Hall. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
