Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, I J Harrison; her parents, William V. Walker and Carrie Willingham Walker; three brothers, Chester Walker, Thurman Walker, and William Walker, Jr.; and one sister, Mildred Walker Hyche.
Hazel is survived by one daughter, Sheila Harrison Hammons (Lane RB Hammons) of Spring, Texas; three granddaughters, Malane Hammons Jarreau (Chad Thomas Jarreau), of New Roads, Louisiana, Hayley Hammons Fitch (Austin Zuppero Fitch) of Ft. Worth, Texas and Taylor Cheyenne Hammons of Spring, Texas. Hazel was loved by four great-grandchildren, Madeline Rose Jarreau, Hunter Lane Jarreau, Payton Jaye Fitch and Zoey Kate Fitch; one sister-in-law, Earlene Robinson Harrison of Coffeeville, Alabama; her best friend since 1941, Doretta McBride of Satsuma, Alabama; 18 Walker nieces and nephews; five Harrison nieces and nephews; and goddaughter, Myla Tyner.
Hazel graduated from Brookwood High School in 1941 and attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa graduating in 1945 with a BS Degree in Home Economics. Hazel's professional career included being a science and biology teacher, working at IBM and later as a secretary to her husband at Yellow Front Stores and Bill's Dollar Stores. Hazel was a long time member of Forest Lake United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Hazel devoted her life to her family, her friends and to her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Pallbearers will be Lane Hammons, David Shaw, Chad Jarreau, Austin Fitch, Phillip Spoelker and Hunter Lane Jareau.
The family gives special thanks to Mrs. Bonnie Smith, Mrs. Jeannette Bourett, the staff and residents of Grace Care Center at Northpointe, Embracing Hospice of Houston and Mrs. Carolyn Libby.
