Mildred Tate Harriman, 89, of Ashland, the widow of, George M. Tate, Charles Franklin Corbin and William E. Harriman, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008. She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Lawrence Tate; and a grandson, Dean H. Pittman. She is survived by her children, Ray M. Tate (Trina A.), Charles Franklin Corbin Jr. (Jeanette), Donald L. Tate (Sheila C.), Anna Belle Ambrosen (Dana), Sharon Faye Haynie (Douglas), Charlene T. Smith (Henry) and Deborah P. Wickham (Stewart), who from the heart, feel "our mother was the best mother in the world". She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Tate, Terry Henley, Tara Forester, Dale Corbin, Ryan Smith, Charles Tate, Gregory Smith, Brittany Hutchinson, Brock Pittman, Tate Pittman, Corbin Haynie, Phillip Smith and Morgan Hutchinson; also 16 great-grandchildren; and a devoted and loving friend, Bett Bowles. Mrs. Harriman was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Mizpah Chapter #32, O.E.S., Rebekah Lodge #14, I.O.O.F, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. The family received friends on Sunday, April 27, 2008 in the Nelsen Funeral Homes Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, where funeral services were held Monday, April 28, 2008 with graveside services being held in Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruther Glen. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
