Alma Marie-Laura Harms (Barnett), 87, of Quincy, WA, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010. She was born to August and Emilina Turcotte on September 2, 1923, on the family farm near Rolla, ND. In 1964, Alma married Robert Barnett at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wenatchee. Later in life, she married Henry Harms. Alma spent 20 years in the Religious Community of the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation. While with the Religious Community, she received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Nursing and worked as a Nurse with their community. Alma also attended Carroll University in Helena, MT, earning her degree in Hospital Administration. She moved to Washington in 1960, and worked as a Nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital in Wenatchee and was part of the team that opened the new hospital, Central Washington Hospital, and she worked there for many years. Later, she worked at the Eye and Ear Hospital in Wenatchee. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Alma is survived by one sister, Adrienne Estes of Moses Lake; numerous nieces and nephews; and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Robert Barnett, in 2000; husband, Henry Harms; two step-daughters, Terry Barnett and Lona Sutton; four brothers; and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Chapel, with Interment following at Wenatchee City Cemetery.
