UNION HILL, Ala. -- Mr. Jonathan Harmon, 36, of Union Hill died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Barry Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Church Cemetery.
Mr. Harmon is survived by his parents, Conrad and Linda Harmon of Union Hill; his sister, Michelle (Scott) Taylor of Union Hill; his brother, Ashley (Dori) Harmon of Union Hill; and his grandmother, Elma Harmon, also of Union Hill.
Born May 23, 1964 in Chambers County, Mr. Harmon was a native of LaFayette and graduated from Chambers Academy. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and archaeology from Auburn University. He also received a Masters of Science degree in sociology and anthropology from Auburn University. Mr. Harmon was a staff member of Auburn University's Anthropology Department. He also worked as an archaeological consultant in the private sector. He had been involved in a number of archaeological surveys and excavations in Chambers, Lee and Macon counties, including the excavation of Fort Tyler, a Civil War fort in West Point.
Donations may be made to the John Harmon Research Fund Alumni Association at Auburn University.
