Of Charlottesville,born in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Cato Drash.
She graduated from Garfield Memorial School of Nursing in 1930. She received a B.S. in Public Health from the Medical College of Virginia in 1949 and an M.S. from Penn State in 1957, and was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. Professionally, she was a nurse at the Warwick Memorial Cancer Clinic before going overseas to serve with the UVA Hospital contingent in WWII as the Assistant Chief Nurse of the 8th Evac Hospital and as Chief Nurse in the 15th Evac Hospital. She left as a Captain in the U.S. Army, earning a Bronze Star. Following the war, she served as a public health nurse in Grayson County, an advisory nurse to the State Health Department (Bureau of PH Nursing), and then as the Director Bureau of Public Health Nursing. She was a longtime member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church.
