Funeral services for Mrs. Ann Harkins, age 73 of Ashland, will be Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. Charles Stone officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Harkins passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at her home. She was a native of Coosa County but had lived most of her life in Clay County. Mrs. Harkins had worked for Russell Manufacturing for over 30 years and retired as a supervisor. She was also a member of Oak Chapel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Harkins is survived by one daughter, Wendy Harkins of Ashland; three sons: Leonard Harkins (Barbara) of Ashland, Tommy Harkins (Kevin Greene) of Summerville and Bobby Harkins (Wanda Baker) of Sylacauga; four sisters: Betty Jane Gaston (Ronnie) of Opelika, Mary Nell Craddock (Kato) of Sylacauga, Debbie Kilpatrick (Bill) of Virginia and Sandra Walls (Lewis) of Hackneyville; two brothers: Wallace Whitley (Carolyn) of Goodwater and Glenn Whitley of Alexander City, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Emmitt O'Neil Whitley and Bertha Mae Thornton Whitley; her husband, Mitchell Harkins and one sister, Eleanor Moore.

Pallbearers will be Brian Denney, Johnny Denney, Nick Denney, Terry Denney, Tony Denney and Ronald Harkins. Jimmy Harkins will serve as honorary pallbearer.
