Austen Hargrave was a long time resident in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Sunset High School and attended North Texas Agricultural College. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Banche and 2 sons. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Fanci and her son Gilbert. Austen was a beloved man with steadfast commitment to duty. He loved all children, his country, his life, his family, all outdoors, his God and his wife.

Austen was a charter member of Boy Scout Troup One in Dallas, made Eagle Scout in 1924 and served as East Texas District Commissioner for Circle Ten Council. He was an employee of Lone Star Gas Company for 37 years and an active member of White Rock United Methodist Church for over 40 years. He was a member of the Engineers Club of Dallas, a member of White Rock Kiwanis Club, serving as its president in 1963. He was on the board of directors at Angels Incorporated and served on the City Plan Commission of Dallas in the 50's and 60's.
