God has one more angel soldier. He fought a great fight. Donald R. Hardman, of Vinton, went home on Sunday morning, October 23, 2011. Don was born in French Creek, W.Va., in 1949, to William S. Hardman and Dollie Lee Hardman. He proudly served in the United States Army for 20 years. After retiring in 1993, Don started working for ABC Supply Company, Incorporated. Don was the manager of the Roanoke branch at the time of his death. Don is survived by his wife of 39 years, Charlene Simon Hardman; three children, Stephanie Hardman Bresette, of Dayton, Ohio, Heather Hardman, of Vinton, and Donnie Hardman and wife, Kristin, of Roanoke; three granddaughters, Logan and Alexis Hardman, of Roanoke, and Emily Mobley, of Vinton; six brothers, Roger (Hannah), of Radcliff, Ky., James (Terrilynn), of Troutville, Bill (Bonnie), of Hinesville, Ga., Randy (Dianne), of Roanoke, David (Connie), of Lindside, W.Va., and Christopher (Laurie), of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, "Bill" and Dollie; and his grandson, "Little Donnie." Don will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at noon on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Harley Cox Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org in the memory of SFC Donald R.
