Born in Louisiana to Richard and Annis (Bethina) Hardie, she was a resident of Deweyville since 1955, she was a homemaker, a member of the Hartburg Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post 2775 in Orange.
Preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Lester Hardie and Buddy Hardie; her son, Carl Edward Swaggart and her husband, Ernest Black, those who will most cherish her memory are her sisters, Audrey Johnson and Daphne L. Cox; her niece, Maryanne Brinson; her grandchildren, Teresa Faye Swaggart and Roberta Lynn Swaggart, Angela Brown and her husband David and Lorrie Brown and her husband Joseph; her great grandchildren, Timothy Eugene Bell, Curtis Jeannings, Michael Brown, Eric Brown, Candice Brown, Shon Brown, Steven Kyzar, Ashley Brown, Keith Brown, and Jeremy Brown and three great great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
