Provided by Melinda - Obituary from the Liberty Tribune, March 29, 1918: Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Allen was born in Bourbon county, Kentucky October 22, 1825. she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hardesty of that state. In 1842 on Christmas day, she was united in marriage to Sylvester Allen. To this union seven children were born. Two died in infancy. Mrs. Benia Thompson died a number of years ago and L.A. Allen of the stock years of Kansas City died the past winter. Those living are D. F. Allen of Trinidad, Colo; Mrs. C(?) B Jewell of Linden, and Miss Mellie Allen of Linden. There are also eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. (Next four lines can not be read) For fifty-one years, Mrs. Allen was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She was an humble Christian and her life was full of kindly deeds. She lived a long, useful and beautiful life. Her sunny happy disposition made life pleasant for herself and those around her and no doubt added to the years of her life. She had (?) her 93rd year and peacefully passed away without a pain or struggle at her home in Linden on the morning of March 15, 1918. A good woman has passed away. Her mission is fulfilled. She has entered on the reward of the faithful and we humbly bow to God's will. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends by Rev. James Freeman. The burial was in the cemetery at Big Shoal church.
