Whiting resident Dorothy Hardenbergh Newman, formerly of West Belmar died on Sept. 28, at the Crestwood Health Care Center of Whiting.
She was 86 years old.
Born in Queens, N.Y., Mrs. Newman, who was raised in Asbury, was a graduate of the Asbury High School Class of 1939. She lived in West Belmar for 55 years before moving to Whiting four years ago.
A devoted homemaker, Mrs. Newman was predeceased by her parents, Chester Hardenbergh and Emma Batten Hardenbergh.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert Carhart Newman; her loving children, Gary Newman, of Norfolk, Mass., David Newman and his wife, Sandy, of Richmond, Va., and Alice Beauduy and her husband, Michael, of Jackson; in addition to her five special grandchildren, David Newman and Eric Newman and his wife, Lauren, of Richmond, Va., and Mick, Kyle and Kayla Beauduy, of Jackson.
Interment was held at Monmouth Memorial Park, West Tinton Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Newman can be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 13th Avenue and E Street, Belmar, 07719.
