Leuella L. Hanson Gardner, 77, Peck

Leuella L. Hanson Gardner, 77 of Peck, passed away June 19, 2012 at Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital in Post Falls, ID.

She was born July 11, 1934 in Goshen, ID to Irvin Hanson and Laura Christensen. At the age of 13, she lost her beloved mother and went to live with siblings and later into foster care. She lived in California, Arizona and Texas; and during those years she was married twice, had a daughter and two sons.

She worked as a waitress all her life; then due to illness she retired early from the workforce and moved back to Idaho where many of her family members lived. She enjoyed socializing with her numerous friends, volunteering in community events, country dancing, playing Bunco, Bible study, and working her part time AVON business.

Survivors include her daughter Elayne Souza of California; her son, Joel Gardner of Texas; grandsons Luke Gardner and Jacob Gardner of California; granddaughter Halie O'Connor of Idaho; great-granddaughter Emma Rae Gardner of California; her sisters Ileen (Joe) Willis of Orofino, Marilyn (Del) Walker of Peck; brothers Harold Woodworth of California and Irvin Hanson, Jr. of Idaho Falls, ID.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Eddie, Franklin and Donald; a sister Bernice Hatfield; and a son Joey Gardner.

At her request there will be no services. Cremation was prepared and her remains will be interred at Pioneer Cemetery in Rigby, ID.

A special poem for all Lu's friends and loved ones…

"Today there is an absence in our lives.

It doesn't seem real that she could be gone.

We can't understand why it had to be.

But God knows far better than we.

She has beaten us to that beautiful land.

She's rejoicing now as it says in God's plan.

If she could speak, I'm sure she would say

‘Don't cry for me but continue to prepare your way

And we will be reunited some sweet day."
