KNOXVILLE - Lorraine Hanson, of Knoxville, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009, at her residence in Knoxville.
She was born in Monmouth, the daughter of Ernest T. and Esther V. Hendrickson Ekstrom.
She married George W. Hanson on Dec. 18, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1982.
Surviving are sons, Dean (Sylvana) Hanson of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ronald (Diane) Hanson of Maryville, Wash., and Kenneth (Nancy) Hanson of Wallkill, N.Y.; daughters, Barbara (Ted) Dorward of Bloomington and Shirley (David) Guiter of Colchester; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Anderson of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and foster brother, Arnold Pittman.
She was raised and educated in Greenbush. She received her GED and attended nursing school for one year.
She worked as a nurse at Monmouth Hospital in Monmouth, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of Galesburg Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Private graveside service will be Friday, July 24, at Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be made in memory of Lorraine Hanson to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
