Franklin L. 'Bud' Hanshaw, Sr., 88, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Mogadore, OH and Tampa, FL, passed away on May 17, 2014. He was born September 20, 1925 in West Bridgewater, PA, son of the late Everett and Helen (Stewart) Hanshaw.

Known affectionately by family and friends as 'Bud', he proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He fought in the Battle of Juno Beach, invasion of Normandy, France and was present for 'V' Day. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to begin a long and satisfying career as a Fuel Tank Truck Driver for Sun Oil Company, from which he retired.

Bud felt fortunate to make his home in Mogadore, OH and later Tampa, FL. He would eventually move to Orlando, being close to his son, Franklin. As certified divers, they enjoyed many trips together to Crystal River, FL observing Manatees and to the spectacular reef explorations of the Florida Keys. In his younger years, he loved the outdoors and hunting; later the quiet relaxation of fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Lois Isabel (Spade) Hanshaw ; a son: David Wesley Hanshaw; and brothers: Bob, John and Jim.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Franklin L. (Diana) Hanshaw, Jr. of FL; Daniel Guy (Teresa) Hanshaw of OH; grandchildren and spouses: Dawn Marie (Shane) Bacon; Franklin L. (Christine) Hanshaw, III; Nathan, Ray, Kyle and Timothy Spitza; great-grandchildren: Kimber Hall; Austin and Haylee Mercer and Victoria Hanshaw; great-great-grandchildren: Addison Hall; Mattison, Parker and Jacob Spitza and one brother and sister-in-law: Kenneth Victor (April) Hanshaw.

Friends will be received Friday, May 23, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, in the funeral home. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
