KENOSHA - Florence Adele (nee: Hansen) Barrett, 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home. Florence was born on September 1, 1915, in Milwaukee to Alwin T. and Gladys (nee: Fralich) Hansen. Florence moved to Kenosha in 1940 and married James W. Barrett on December 22, 1943 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was educated in the schools of Milwaukee and graduated from Shorewood High School. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. For a number of years she was employed with her father at Thomas Hansen and Sons Funeral Home. She was very active in the Kenosha Safe Harbor Humane Society, the Kenosha Women's Club, the Schubert Club, the Catholic Women's Club and was a member of La Societe. Florence spent many of her summers in Door County at her family home. Florence is survived by, two sons, James A. (Sue) of Kenosha and John F. (Susan) of Racine; three grandchildren, John (Katie), Christopher (Vivian) and Mark (Holly) Barrett; three step- grandchildren, Stephen (Lynel) Day, Julie (Todd) Ogren and Jennifer (Terry) Kammien; five great grandchildren, Jack Barrett, Maddy Barrett, Kevin Barrett, Joaquin Barrett and Willem Barrett; her brother, Thomas (Arminta) Hansen of Fairview, N.C.; brother-in- law, Larry Willegal of Indiana; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her son, Michael in March of 1997; and her parents. Funeral services for Florence will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the Hansen- Lendman Funeral Home with interment to follow in Green Ridge Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army, Kenosha Safe Harbor Humane Society and La Societe would be greatly appreciated.
