Mrs. Johanna Broeckert nee Hansen, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Monday evening at the home of her sister, Mrs. Elsie Bruns at Brillion. The deceased was born on a farm in the town of New Holstein, now the city of Kiel, on February 17, 1855, a daughter of Jurgen Hansen and Anna Tiedemann. She was married to William Broeckert of the town of Schleswig in 1875, and they made their home in New Holstein for a time, then moved to Kiel, where Mr. Broeckert was engaged in the grain buying business. Mr. Broeckert passed away in 1920, and since that time she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Bruns at Brillion, and at various times visiting her children. Three children were born of this union, a son and two daughters. All three preceded her in death. She had been a member of the Kiel Frauenverein, and still was at the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her death, two grandchildren, one grandchild(sic); her sister, Mrs. Bruns.
