Daryle Kermit Hansen enlisted in the Marine Corps 14 December, 1942 from Fenton, Iowa. Completed recruit training MCB San Diego. 1 April, 1943 assigned to HQ and Service Company, School Battalion, MCB Camp Elliott, CA. 12 April, 1943 assigned to the 16th Replacement Battalion.
17 April, 1943 embarked SS Lurline at San Diego for movement overseas. Upon arrival at Melbourne, Australia assigned to G Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division at Camp Balcombe.
27 September, 1943 embarked Naval Transport. 11 October, 1943 arrived Milne Bay, New Guinea. During December, 1943 embarked Naval Transport. Arrived Oro Bay, New Guinea.
28 December, 1943 embarked Naval Transport. 29 December, 1943 landed on Blue Beach near Silimati Point, Cape Gloucester, New Britain and participated in combat operations until 23 April, 1943.
26 April, 1944 embarked Naval Transport. 3 May, 1944 arrived at Pavuvu, Russell Islands. Promoted to Private First Class and assigned as Automatic Rifleman (MOS 746).
15 September, 1944 landed at Beach Peleliu D-Day and participated in combat operations until Wounded in Action 30 September, 1944. Evacuated to the USS Tyron (APH-1) and Mobile Hospital on Guadalcanal.
Upon discharge assigned to G Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines on Pavuvu. Promoted to Corporal and assigned as Fire Team Leader (MOS 737).
15 March, 1945 embarked Naval Transport. 21-26 March, 1945 at Ulithi Atoll. 1 April, 1945 landed Beach Yellow Two Okinawa D-Day and participated in combat operations until Killed in Action 2 May, 1945.
Body not recovered.
