Ruth was born Ruth Nellie Hanrath in Bristol, WI on January 30, 1916 to Adeline and Frank Hanrath. She was married to Fremont Brown on March 10, 1935.. They had one son, Bruce. Throughout the years Ruth lived, worked and raised her family in Waukegan, IL. She was employed at Co-op Trading for 21 years and after that, decided she still wanted to keep busy so she then was employed by Waukegan High School participating in their school lunch program. She continued to do this for 14 years.
She was always full of energy and had plenty to give back to her family, her church and her community. Following her husband's death on July 26, 1990, Ruth lived a few more years in Waukegan, with her friends doing the things she loved doing. She decided to make a move to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1997 to be with her son, Bruce and all
of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always full of life and love, always enjoyed outings with her grandchildren, and making everyone laugh!
Ruth is survived by her only child, a son, Bruce Leroy Brown and his wife, Pearl Brown; six grandchildren, Connie Brown-Kornik (Kirk), Chris Brown,(Donnalee), Dana Brown,
Deidre Brown (Kevin), Jennifer Bryson, and Kirsten Slusarenko (Patrick) all of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and 11 great-grandchildren, Carly, Lauren, Cruise, Jesse, Ryan, Aurora, Lyra, Alex, Rayne, Neve and Nyah; she is also survived by one sister-in-law, Elaine Hanrath; she also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews and many dear
friends.
She is pre-deceased by all of her brothers and sisters, David Hanrath, Harold (Marie) Hanrath, Luella (Leonard) Peterson, Alice (Everett) Denman, Leroy (Dorothy) Hanrath, Frank Hanrath; and by her loving husband, Fremont.
Service will be held at Marsh's Funeral Home, 305 North Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, April 9th, with Reverend Joseph Wilcox "Pastor Joe" officiating.
Memorials may be given to The Canadian Paraplegic Association or Schools for the Blind, in Ruth's name.
Internment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories Cemetery next to her beloved Fremont.
