Elizabeth J. "Betty" Dondero (Hannahs), 80, of Vineland died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010.
Born in Pennsauken, Betty lived in Vineland for 57 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis C. "Bud" Dondero. Betty received her R.N. from Misericordia School of Nursing and worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden prior to marrying Bud and moving to Vineland. Betty was passionate about her volunteer work, most recently at South Jersey Healthcare HospiceCare, Twice Loved Treasures Thrift Shop, and the South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center Same Day Surgery Unit. Over the years, she volunteered as the school nurse for St. Rose of Lima School and Our Lady of Mercy Academy, both in Newfield, as well as for the American Red Cross Blood Bank. Additionally, she assisted with the school lunch program at Notre Dame Regional School and with bingo at St. Rose of Lima Church. Betty was a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Vineland Fire Hall and was a devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Newfield. Betty's greatest joys were her children and grandchildren, and she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends.
In addition to her husband, Bud, Betty was predeceased by her brother, the Rev. Norman G. Hannahs, CSSp; and her sons-in-law, Marty Waldron and Mark Yetsko.
She will be forever loved by her children, Beth Dondero-Garvey (Kevin) of Somers Point, Kathy Waldron of Galloway, Ken Dondero (Julie) of Vineland, Sue Dondero-Skeels (Dave) of Petersburg and Mary Jablonski (Robert) of Vineland; and grandchildren, Matthew and Patrick Yetsko, Jesse and Brian Dondero, Sarah Dondero-Skeels, David Waldron and Kristin Jablonski.
A church visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church, 104 Catawba Ave., Newfield.
Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Vineland.
