Lois Adeline Coon, age 94, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Henry County Health Center following a sudden illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18th at the United Church of Crawfordsville with services conducted by Rev. Nancy Oehler-Love and Larry Fletcher. Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Tuesday evening. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery.

Lois was born October 20, 1917 in Crawfordsville, Iowa the daughter of John Lee and Eva (Sands) Hanna. She attended school in Crawfordsville and graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1935. Lois was united in marriage to Lloyd Merrill Coon on June 24, 1938.

Following their marriage, Lois and Lloyd lived in Waterloo, Ainsworth and Buffalo, Iowa as well as Douglas, Arizona and Warren, Arizona. They moved back to Crawfordsville in 1963 where they owned and operated the Crawfordsville Meat Locker from 1963 until 1974. Lois later worked as a Dietary Aide at Halcyon House for 17 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville where she served as an elder and was also a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, playing croquet, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lois was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Sports Fan and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

She is survived by daughter, Carman Kay Summarsell of Hartland, Vermont; daughter Karen Fay Stapp and husband Sam of Wapello, Iowa; son Ronald Merrill Coon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son Terrell Lee Coon and wife Debra of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1977, two brothers, Bob Hanna and Bruce Hanna as well as one sister Marjorie Davidson.
