Frederick "Fred" Eugene Hanlon, 79, passed away on May 24, 2008. A great sense of humor is the only way to describe Fred. Following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, Fred went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 24, 2008, preceded in death by his bride, Marie Hanlon.
He will be greatly missed by his brother, Charles; his four daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne & Scott; Brenda; Robin & Dan; Betty & Mason; his grandchildren, Steven & Sandi, Michael, Christopher, Robert & Christy, Michelle, Amanda, Carrie, and Thomas; and his great-grandchildren, Jayde and Joseph.
Fred proudly enlisted in the US Navy at the age of seventeen and served our country for 23 years. Fred retired in 1970 as a First Class Radioman. Following his military retirement he spent 13 years working for Garrett Turbine Engines.
Fred enjoyed traveling around the country and hosting at RV parks. He was inspired by music, entertaining and spending time with his family and friends.
A visitation and memorial service will be held to celebrate Fred's life on Tuesday, May 27th at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd. Chandler, AZ 85248. Visitation is 1:30 - 3 PM with the service immediately following at 3 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley in appreciation for their compassionate care and support of Fred and his family.
