Wilma Ackerman, formerly of 31897 Georgetown Road, Salem, Ohio, went home to dance with the angels on April 16, 2012 with her family by her side. She was born December 16, 1924 in Alliance, to Herbert and Elizabeth Hanlin.
Wilma was a 1943 graduate of Alliance High School. She married Sherman Ackerman in November of 1948 and he preceded her in March of 2005.
She worked many jobs including Owen C. Wilhelm Real Estate Agency and Midland Buckeye Bank. Her favorite job was as a librarian at Knox School in the West Branch School District. She worked for 30 years and retired at 77 years old. She loved working with the children and the children loved her..
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (David) Sekerak of Niles; a son, Bruce (Jill) of Sandusky; a stepson, Jack (Kathy) of North Carolina; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and 14 step great-grandchildren.
A step grandson, Bret was killed in a car accident in 1997.
She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Rice officiating. Calling hours will be held on Thursday one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
