Funeral services were held Monday, November 23 for Harriett Alberta Carson, 89, who died at the Highland Park Nursing Home Friday, November 20. Rev. John Dale officiated at the 9:30 a.m. service held at Webster Funeral Home Osceola.

Harriett Alberta Carson was born in Grant County, West Virginia November 24, 1880, the daughter of Job Michael and Mahala Jane Kitzmiller Hanlin. She was educated in the Indiana and Iowa Schools. She was married March 6, 1901 to Jeff Carson and five children were born to this union. She had lived at the Nursing home the past ten years. She was affiliated with the United Brethern Church at Pleasantview.

Surviving relatives include a son, Melvin R. Carson and daughter-in-law, Marie of Osceola; two daughters; Verda Carson of Chicago, Illinois and Irene Carson of Des Moines; a brother Homer Hanlin of Clarence, Missouri, a sister, Grace Hall of Shelbina, Missouri; one granddaughter, Mrs. Carolyn Lingle and three great grandchildren, David, Beth and Patty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Harley Donald and daughter Lela Grace and grandson, Donovan Ray; two brothers and three sisters.

Interment was in Ottawa Cemetery.
