Mary Ann Dobbelaere-Streicher, 78, Defiance, Ohio, died today, December 10, 2009, in CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center, Defiance.
She was born October 12, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Schmidt) Hanlin. In 1952, she married her first husband, Paul Dobbelaere, who died in 1989. In 1990, she married her second husband, John L. "Jack" Streicher, who died in 2003.
She was a registered nurse and retired from the Defiance County Health Department after 18 years. She was an alumnus of Christ Hospital School of Nursing, Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated in 1952. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was involved with many offices and activities, including the Altar Rosary Society. She was a lay minister, a hospice volunteer and a member of Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance Auxiliary.
She was a member of MABLE (retirees' group from the Defiance County Health Department). Thanks to all her friends. She was a volunteer for Defiance County Visiting Nurses, Friends of the Defiance Public Library and R&R at Defiance County Senior Center.
Surviving are a son, Jim (Sheryl) Dobbelaere, Napoleon, Ohio; four daughters, Jeanne LaFountain of Delaware, Ohio, Joy (Jerry) Bullinger of Napoleon, Ohio, Jill (Ron) Doster of Oakwood, Ohio, and Jan (Randy) Mansfield, Oakwood, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Miss Cheri Streicher, Montpelier, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; a brother, Charles (Joyce) Hanlin, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and a sister, Patricia (James) Reamsnyder, Hudson, Mich.
Preceding her in death were husbands, Paul Dobbelaere and John L. "Jack" Streicher; her parents; a daughter, Judith Bradford; and a stepson, Tim Streicher.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance, with Father Tim Kummerer officiating.
