Son of the late Dr. Jack and Beatrice Hanley, she was preceded by a sister, Dr. Patti Hanley. She was survived by her husband, Arthur Alston (married 43 years); daughters, Mandy Bramhall and Amy White (J.C.); six grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. She was a graduate of the University of Florida and a math teacher for more than 20 years. Additionally, she was a swim team coach. Her funeral was held on December 10, 2011, with Pastor Leonard Thompson officiating.
