Ira Hanks is the son of Alexander Grayson and Mary Catherine 'Montgomery' Hanks.
IRA HANKS.//The funeral of Ira Hanks was held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at the Boiling Springs church. The services were conducted by Rev. I.S. Richmond. The music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rife and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Parke. The flowers were in charge of Miss Ora Hayes, Miss Effie Montgomery and Miss Lillian Montgomery. The pallbearers were Frank Gulick, Fred Gulick, Bernard Gulick, Frank Hayes, Charles Hayes and William Hayes. The interment was in Boiling Springs cemetery. Ira D. Hanks, since finishing his education in the Jacksonville School for deaf mutes, has for the past twenty years made his home with his mother Mrs. Mary C. Hanks and his aunt, Miss Emily Montgomery, three and one half miles north of Decatur. Mr. Hanks was the grandson of the late William F. Montgomery and of John Hanks, the first cousin of Abraham Lincoln. Mr. Hanks is survived by his mother, one sister, Mrs. Millie Mumbower of Springfield, and one brother, W. G. Hanks of Long Beach, Calif. On account of illness the brother was not able to come for the funeral.
