Death of Mrs. Mary M. Hanes
Mrs. Mary M. Hanes died at her home on Brown Street, this city, at 4:30 o'clock Friday morning, April 11, aged 67 years. She had been ailing all winter after an attack of influenza in the fall and was confined to her bed for about a week before her demise.
Deceased was born in Vermont in September, 1851; married Joseph Page and by him had two children, M. J. Page, of Leona, Idaho, and E. J. Page of Oakland, Cal. She married William Henry Hanes 39 years ago and from this union there were born three sons, Ray Hanes, Roy Hanes and Hollis Hanes, of Woodburn. An adopted daughter also survives, Mrs. Eva Belle Dunavon, of Izee, Eastern Oregon.
Mr. and Mrs. Hanes and children came west in 1904, lived for a year at Creswell, then moved to Woodburn. Mr. Hanes passes away in 1911. Mrs. Hanes was a good mother and a most estimable woman. She attended the Methodist Episcopal Church when able to be at services and was highly thought of in this community.
The funeral was Sunday, services being at the house at 2 p.m., Rev. C. L. Dark officiating. Interment was at Belle Passi cemetery.
