Albert Lee Hanes, 89, Lafayette, a retired teacher, died at 6:20 a.m. Sat., Feb. 25, 1978, in Americana Nursing Center, where he had resided three years.
Born at Literberry, Ill., he was reared and educated at Greenfield, Ill., graduating from Greenfield High School. In 1914 he was married at Greenfield to Martha Jones. He was a graduate of Illinois State Normal University and received his masters degree in education from the University of Illinois. He was a teacher, principal and superintendent in the Illinois school systems at Mechanicsburg,
Scottsville and Armington before coming to Indiana in 1943.
Mr. Hanes was an instructor at Purdue University and later taught at West Point, Flora, from 1951-1961, Rendallville and Unionville, retiring in 1965 with over 50 years in the teaching profession. While at Flora he received the State of Indiana Outstanding Teachers award.
Services and burial were at Greenfield, Ill. Delphi Carroll County Comet March 1, 1978
