Alpha Prentice was the third of six children born to William and Trial (Darling) Prentice.
Trial Darling was a daughter of William and rachel (White) darling.

Josiah Trask and marr. second, on Feb. 11, 1819, as his second wife, John Southwick, b. abt/ 1760 and died Dec. 11, 1833 in Mendon age 73, son of Joseph and Hannah (Hunt) Southwick. Rowena had five children by her second husband, John Southwick.
2)Peleg, b. Feb. 6, 1788, marr. on Jan 1, 1811 in Mendon, Ma., Esther Young.
3) Alpha, b. June 1, 1790, d. July 17, 1843 in Mendon, Ma.marr. Apr. 2, 1808 in Mendon, Philip F. Handy, b. Apr. 20, 1787 in Gloucester or Smithfield, d. Jan. 30, 1863 at age 78. He was the son of Job and Mary Handy. Philip married second, Abi C., b. about 1796 and died Oct. 17, 1854.

5)Sophia, b. Oct. 22, 1797
6)William, b. July 8, 1802, d. July 6, 1845 in Mendon, age 44 yrs. He is buried in Chestnut Hills Cemetery.
