George Hancharik, 79, New Wilmington, Mercer County, formerly of Cairnbrook, died Oct. 31, 1999, following an extended illness. Born June 2, 1920, in Shade Township, the son of John and Elizabeth (Kozma)Hancharik. Proceeded in death by parents; wife, the former Susan Elko; brother John and sisters Mary, Verna and Elizabeth. Survived by daughters: Linda, wife of Gerald Hittie, New Wilmington; Joan, wife of Ted Garloski, Midland, Texas; grandsons, Joshua, Aaron, Alexander and Nicholas. Brother of Mike, Ann Koval and Joe, all of Cairnbrook; Helen Petkosh, Sidman; Andy, Windber, and Mary Doxey and Pauline Whitman, both of Johnstown. U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Retired UMWA miner.
