Mrs. Frances Hamrick Barber, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 79, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Born June 15, 1925, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Bezola Hamrick and Malena Bue Hamrick.

She retired from Ora Mill. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Bess Sunday School Class and the Agape Bible Study Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Barber Jr.; a brother, Everette Hamrick; and two sisters, Alma McSwain and Irene Padgett.

She is survived by four daughters, Rachel Hunt and husband, Bob, Freda McSwain and husband, Garry, and Lynn Lybrand and husband, Jim, all of Shelby and Hilda Lail and husband, Bob, of Boiling Springs; a son, Ronald E. Barber of Shelby; a brother, David Hamrick and wife, Johnnie, of Shelby; three sisters, Mildred Reynolds and husband, L.D., Thelma Hoyle and Lena McSwain, all of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Lura Hamrick of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Howard Padgett of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Laura Hamrick and husband, Mark, Jesse Hunt and wife, Anna, Wesley Lail, Lori Lail, Ally McSwain, Josh McSwain and wife, Wendy, Jamie Lybrand and Lance Lybrand; and a great-grandchild, Jordan Hamrick.

The funeral will be at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
