Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The Rev. Paul Jones, associate minister of the Christian Church of Litchfield, will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 4, from 4 until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Born Sept. 21, 1938, in Litchfield, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Irene (Clark) Hampton. She married James Thomas Brown on June 21, 1959, at Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield. He survives.
A 1956 graduate of Litchfield High School, she was a member of the Christian Church of Litchfield, Litchfield Eagles Auxiliary and had volunteered for the Children's Miracle Network.
She had worked at Walmart, Jubelt's Bakery, First National Bank and had managed the Derby Gas Station, all in Litchfield.
Mrs. Brown enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping and line dancing.
She is also survived by two sons, James (wife Karen) Brown, Jr. of Decatur, and Michael (wife Candice) Brown of Litchfield; two daughters, Sherry (husband Larry) Boehme of New Bern, NC, and Patti (husband Vernon) Thrasher of Litchfield; four brothers, Harold "Ham" (wife Joanne) Hampton of Mt. Olive, Maynard "Butch" (wife Brenda) Hampton of Litchfield, Richard (wife Gwen) Hampton of Gillespie, and Bill (wife Dini) Hampton of Anna, OH; three sisters, Dorothy Wilson of Butler, Janet (husband Mike) Stockamp of Conners, GA, and Linda (husband Wayne) Budd of Litchfield; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Tidwell and Betty Davee; and a grandson, Nicholas Boehme.
